Vandy teaches conflict resolution at Portland State University, with specialization in the areas of peacebuilding, human rights and transitional justice. From 2004 to 2005 he was the Coordinator of the UN-NGO Conflict Prevention Working Group in New York which brought together 1000 participants from governments, the UN and civil society at the UN Headquarters in July 2005 to explore the role of civil society in conflict prevention. He has written widely on civil society and the political economy of conflict. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Masters in Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA; and a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, USA.
