The tenth recipient of the Senesh Graduate Fellowship for 2008-2009 is Meron Zeleke Eresso from Nekemte, Ethiopia. She has a bachelor's in History and a Master's in social anthropology from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. She is currently working on a Ph.D. in social anthropology from Bayreuth University in Bayreuth, Germany. Her field of study is religious and interethnic relations and conflict in Ethiopia. During her fellowship she will carryout a systematic anthropological fieldwork to collect qualitative and quantitative data to look at the interethnic conflict in North East Ethiopia. She hopes to use her education to ensure peace building activities that foster ethnic and religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Ms. Zeleke has been a recipient of the DAAD Scholarship, a German Academic Exchange Service. She is a member of Ethiopian Social Anthropologist, Sociologist and Social Workers Association. Her work experience includes being a research assistant on HIV/AIDS and Gender Project and on Identity and Conflict in Gambella Region in Ethiopia. She has also been a research assistant for Ethiopian Public Health Association and has done voluntary research on "The impact of inflation on the lives of women" for the Woman In Self Employment (WISE). Lastly, she has taught Peace Studies and Civic Education at Life Lion College.
