Nikita Reece

Nikita Reece attained her first degree in in Law and Politics, at the University of the West Indies (UWI), and the Masters in International Peace, Conflict and Development, with a focus on human rights, gender equality and peace at the Universitat Jaume I (UJI) in Castelló de la Plana, Spain. She is now pursuing a Doctorate in the same field.

Nikita's achievements confirm her unwavering commitment to human rights, equality and justice. Among her many activities, she formulated test policies to combat human trafficking in the Caribbean region. Her current work focuses on gender equality systems, empowerment of women in the political and community spheres and the development of VOICES which addresses gender based violence through real time monitoring systems. Her research seeks to enhance transparency and accountability features of state structures by monitoring and measuring the impact of policies. Nikita believes in the use of disruptive technologies to address inequalities and conflict.

She is a young woman greatly to be admired because of her determination, her generous spirit, her principles and commitment to peoples of the world. Her “service to others” has moved from rudimentary one-to-one lessons with disadvantaged youth, to volunteering with non-profit organisations. Among her many achievements is an online interactive system to foster greater youth involvement in agriculture.
