Katherine Layton

Dr. Katherine S. Layton currently works as Education Supervisor at a male adult prison, for Florida Department of Corrections. She develops and supervises educational programs for prisoners, to contribute to inmates' personal development and community transition. Dr. Layton has taught a range of courses at university and secondary education levels, in a variety of U.S. and international settings and has designed education programs for over 20 years. Previous work entailed constructing education in other conflict zones: Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, Russia and North Caucasus, and in Turkey. Her interests center on concepts and applications of education to prevent and change the dynamics of male violence in non-peaceful contexts.
Katherine Layton received a Peace Research Grant from the IPRA Foundation in 2012 for her project, which was later published as a book, "Chechens."
