Draft Executive Summary

Northern Uganda represents one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters, with thousands of children forcibly recruited into armed forces and thousands more demobilized but physically and mentally scarred.

Yet without an understanding of the social, economic and psychological impacts of child soldiering, without a strong grasp of the risk and protective factors in abduction, and without a sense of which DDR measures are successful and for whom, how can we design more effective prevention and rehabilitation programs?
