The twelfth recipient of the Senesh Graduate Fellowship for 2012-2013 is Shamsi Mohammud Sheikh from Kenya. She will be pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Diplomacy and International Affairs at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, Azerbaijan.

Shamsi has a BA in International Relations from the US International University in Kenya. In her current studies, she is focusing on International Peace and Security. She is interested in researching rape as a weapon of war by the rebels in the Great Lakes region of Africa.  Shamsi interned with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to UN Offices/UNEP/UN-Habitat as a Research Assistant.  She also has extensive experience doing volunteer work with children and orphans.
