Hans Günter Brauch (Germany): Dr. phil. habil, Adj. Prof. (Privatdozent) at the Faculty of Political Science and Social Sciences, Free University of Berlin; since 2005 he is a senior fellow at the Institute on Environment and Human Security of the United Nations University(UNU-EHS) in Bonn; since 1987 chairman of Peace Research and European Security Studies (AFES-PRESS).

Since 2003 he is editor of the Hexagon Book Series on Human and Environmental Security and Peace (HESP in hardcover and as Ebooks) with Springer Publishers. Since 2012 he edits the Springer Briefs in Environment, Security, Development and Peace (ESDP) and the SpringerBriefs in Pioneers in Science and Practice (PSP) that are both published as softcover and Ebooks.

He was guest professor of international relations at the universities of Frankfurt on Main, Leipzig, Greifswald and Erfurt (Germany). From 1976-1989 he was research associate at Heidelberg and Stuttgart universities, a research fellow at Harvard and Stanford University and he was teaching at the universities of Darmstadt, Tübingen, Stuttgart and Heidelberg. Since 2000 he taught at the Free University of Berlin, at SciencePo (Paris), the European Peace University (EPU, Austria), and in 2011 and 2012 in a PhD course with the Mexican Navy and he occasionally lecturers in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); in June 2010 and December 2012 he was a guest professor at the National University of Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia and in December 2012 he lectured at the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand where he was a guest professor from September to December 2012.

PublicationsHe has published 72 books, studies and research reports, about 150 book chapters more than 80 articles in journals on security, armament, climate, energy and migration policies and on Mediterranean issues in English and German; selected chapters and articles were translated into Spanish, Greek, French, Danish, Finnish, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese, Serbocroatian, Turkish and in 2014 into Chinese; about 200 internet publications of keynote speeches and conference presentations in German, English and Spanish.
